About our team
Since opening in 2000 we have grown considerably and our workforce consists of 40 members including 2 members of the Catering Team.
The majority of our staff have been with us for between 3 and 15 years with the remaining staff joining us when we expanded in early 2010.
Our Management Team consists of The Managing Director, Nursery Manager, Deputy Manager, Administration Manager, Finance and Development Manager and 2 senior Nursery Nurses.
3 of the 7 members of the management team have been at the nursery since it opened in 2000. 2 other team members have been in the team for between 4 and 7 years. We also have a qualified member of staff who has been at stepping stones since 2008 and she is our SENCO (Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator).
We regard ourselves as a highly motivated professional team. It is important to us to have a dedicated team for the continuity of care for the children and to build outstanding relationships with everyone involved.
OFSTED state that a minimum of 50% of the workforce should hold a level 2 qualification in childcare. We have always exceeded this requirement:
29 of our Nursery Nurses are all NVQ Level 3/BTEC National Diploma or equivalent qualified, with 2 members holding a BA in Early Childhood studies. The remaining staff are Nursery assistants working towards their NVQ Level 3.
We take pride in ourselves that we operate far in excess of the standards required by OFSTED and the fact that we also have a more mature cross section of staff within the nursery team. Many of the staff have children of their own and realise what it is like to leave their child and can offer practical advice.
We have always strived to excel in quality childcare and believe by retaining staff (whether this be a newly qualified member of staff or a more experienced member) and giving them the continued support and training that is needed to help them develop into excellent practitioners. This helps them to build a solid team that we are all proud of as opposed to having a high turn over of younger staff that we train and then let go when they are newly qualified as some other nurseries tend to do.
We also have a pool of regular supply staff who are all qualified Level 3 Nursery Nurses or equivalent that we employ to cover annual leave, training, meetings and staff absence. This helps to give continuity at all times for the children, parents and staff members and maintains our level of quality care.
Experience and loyalty are vital when it comes to delivering top quality childcare. We are proud of our staff and the years they have spent with us. It's a measure of quality that is hard to achieve and one we'll work hard to maintain.
During the school year we have up to four Placement Students at any one time.
These Students are attending various colleges around Nottingham and at different levels of training towards a recognised training certificate in childcare.
Students are not based in any specific room and move around the Nursery depending on their training needs.
There are many different modules to be covered during the course, ranging from the care of babies from six weeks to five years. During their time with us they are continually supervised and observed.
Their tutors and assessors regularly visit and monitor their progress.
