Deanne Potter - Nursery Nurse

NVQ Level 3

I started working at Stepping Stones in November 2004. At the moment I am based in Green Room 2.

I achieved the N.V.Q. Level 2 certificate in childcare in January 2006 and my N.V.Q Level 3 in May 2008.

Whilst at school I did a work experience placement at a state school working with the 3-5 year old children.

After leaving school I went to college for a year to study Health and Social Care, whilst I was there I did a placement at an after school club working with 5-7 year old children, which I enjoyed. I have done voluntary work on a sports scheme with 8-13 year olds where I gained a 100 hour Millennium Volunteer Certificate. Although I did enjoy the work it made me realise that I preferred to work with younger children especially under 5’s.

Since joining Stepping Stones I have completed a First Aid course, Curriculum training for the Foundation stage, Child Protection and Behaviour Management and I was involved in the Quality Assurance for the nursery in 2006. I am currently learning sign language which I am really enjoying.

In my spare time I enjoy babysitting, shopping and socialising with my friends.
