We have a few areas including language and literacy, problem solving, reasoning and numeracy, science and nature, a book corner and a circle time space.

Children enjoy listening to and using spoken and written language and readily turn it to their play and learning, they can use language to imagine and re-create roles and experiences. The children start to form good relationships with adults and peers, work as part of a group, taking turns, sharing fairly and they begin to develop respect for their own cultures and beliefs and those of other people. The children find out about their environment, identify features in the place they live and the natural world.

Activities are planned and evaluated for both Pre-School Rooms: children are regularly observed so their next stage of development can be planned for and encouraged. Children are helped to take more responsibility for their actions and their daily routines ready to prepare them for the wider world of school.

We continue the ECAT (Every Child A Talker) in the Pre-School, introducing new vocabulary and extended ways of communicating.

Blue Rooms 1 and 2 are for our Pre-School children aged approximately 36-60 months.

We have a large range of equipment and activities including an extensive range of messy play, construction toys, small world play and a musical instrument centre. The children can build and construct with a wide range of objects selecting appropriate resources and adapting their work where necessary, they can express and communicate their ideas, thoughts and feelings by using a widening range of materials, suitable tools, being imaginative, designing/making, being creative and enjoying a variety of songs and musical instruments. Children can interact and use language such as greater, smaller, heavier or lighter to compare quantities in the identification of mathematical problem solving.

Our aim is to develop positive values, independence and self confidence. in both Pre-School Rooms we believe children should be encouraged to develop at their own pace and therefore provide many opportunities for them to discover, question, experience, explore, experiment and imagine.

Adjacent to the Blue Room 1 is the toileting area for the Pre-School children, we encourage them to become more independent and manage their own personal hygiene.
